I have a scene with LOTS of trees in it and a certain amount of displacement. Using Universal Method set to Very Good Quality at half resolution (960x 540) it takes about 45 minutes per frame. At full 1080p it takes 6.5 hours, when I would think it would take 3 hours.
What might be causing this? Would it be related to the displacement? I don't think it's RAM related...
Oh, and in case this helps, the client was very adamant that the scene take place in early spring, so I made it so the leaf textures render much smaller on the faces that they're mapped on. In my early tests I found that this alone made things take longer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

				Hello,
Displace can take huge time, depends on how it's setted. feel free to share your settings.
Hope i'll find a good way for V1.0 to manage automatically Displacement
i would suggest a good quality at full res instead of very good at half
about the tree leaves : As you probably know, Vray don't like to deal with alphas..
You can lower the filter value (0.01) for the tree leaf texture AND alpha texture (if separated).
I also suggest to use this new preset, wich works faster than actual one. The deal is : better antialias, but more grain in dark areas. Renders way faster, btw
just pur the file into your maxroot\solidrocks\presets_09x folder, and relaunch SR.
Hope it helps !
