ANIMATION FLYTHROUGH QUESTION

Hi,
Is it possible to stop the animation wizard midway during an animation and continue at a later stage with the IR map samples being added into the already rendered map? this becomes relevant as at times the computer can stop during an IR map calculation or max might crash. this leads to having to re-render the entire IR map pass all over again.

The method of IR calculation used by the wizard is Miltiframe incremental. this resets the IR map at the beginning of the render thus not allowing the samples to get added later.

would it be possible to add a button which allows us to reload the already rendered ir map into the memory and render ahead with incremental add to current map, the way it is natively done in vray.

also wud it be feasible to add a feature which allows ir map for every frame to be stored seperately like a net render file which we can merge later in the ir viewer if need be.

Hi Damien sorry for this missing.
Well it's a nice new feature idea(s).
Actually you can only pause/restart the final render (final frames) later on, using the already computed files. perhaps can you tweak using this process to replace the file by your own...?

i'll do my best to add this features in next build. added in todo list.
- In flywiz, if user check ON the button "reuse Ram IM" (or something like that), then the flywiz will use the actual IM in ram and will add samples (incremental).
- store IM files separately for each frame.

I'm still working on net send features. not easy to be simple

all the best,

I've never tried it, but i think you can use the "Irradiance Map Viewer" tool (provided with Vray) to merge your VRMAP files.
When you restart your IRMAP calculation, choose another filename and when you got all the frames, use the tool to merge all your .VRMAP files into one.
You think it should work Jerome ?
cheers,
Sebz

Hi All,

I've tried it, it works. So in my opinion no need to add a special function in SR to do this.

But about the IR calculation for flythrough animations, what could be a nice feature i think, would be the ability to set manually the frames where IRMAP is calculated.
For example for a 100 frame animation where the camera is moving slow at the beginning and fast at the end, set IRMAP for frames 0 20 40 55 70 80 85 90 95 100...
This could save a lot of calculation time.
Have a nice day,
