Hi,
Recently i started to use Rebusfarm for small stills renders,
Last time I'd submitted to Rebusfarm a 5K stills (5120x2700) using SR exterior preset (Method: IM/LC - Preset: Exterior - Quality: Production).
the problem is that it took more then 4 hours to finish the render, and it cost me 200 credits (200 euro).
In short.. I've contact rebusfarm support, he checked my scene and wrote my this

why is your global subdivision multiplier = 8 and min samples = 256
that are crazy high settings

...

about each little vray setting is touched and modified
did you load a render preset or used SolidRocks to setup vray ?

...

i did a local test in 500x333 resolution
estemate rendertime with default settings
subdivision multiplier = 1 and min samples = 8
=35min
estemate rendertime with your settings
subdivision multiplier = 8 and min samples = 256
=4 hours !!!

Help me to create suitable preset for Rebusfarm
Thanks in advance.

Hello Avichai,
Thanks for feedback.
I'm so sorry about that.
First of all, if you're unsatisfied by SR, i can refund your payment. no problem.

About your still : 5120*2700 in production quality always takes time to render... !

About settings :
at production level, global subdivs multipliser is 8. BUT !!! Materials are also modified and have their subdivs values forced to 7, and light to 6 subdivs. That means that final subdivs values for all materials are : 8*7 = 56 subdivs and lights subdivs = 8*5 = 40 wich is pretty normal for production quality...
min samples = 256 is here to stabilize Irrmap. It not takes very much of rendertime, or, at least, is compensed by the fact the HSPH subdivs have been lowered. Faster like this. You can try ;)

Of course i'm ready to help you create a preset for rebus !!
The best way, of course, if to set quality to medium or good. Most of times, especially in exterior, it's far enough. At least for GI.

Why did you used production quality ? perhaps a lack of AA ?

Please tell me what is most important to your eyes (AA, glossies, Gi..) and i can propose you a special preset.

Oups ! I forget something important to know.
All in all (globally speaking) each time you raise quality in SR, you can expect (more or less) rendertimes * 1.5

example : if a render takes 10min in medium, then it will take 15min in good(10*1.5), then 23min in very good (15*1.5), then 35min in production(23*1.5), then 55 min in ultra (35*1.5).

Hi,
I'm very satisfied with SR, No way i'm giving it back to you :) Amazing tool.
i managed to get some of my credit back from Rebusfarm.

Thanks for the clarification,
i use production quality because it simply look amazing..
i can't actually put my finger specifically on why, i guess it's the glossies that got better with production quality. By the way, I'm not using AA.

How do you suggest we should proceed?
if needed i can create a test scene.

Wow - sounds expensive, - Are you rendering your stills in distributed mode? Much, much cheaper if you go for just a single pc although it takes a bit longer I guess.
