I've noticed that since updating to VRAY 5.1, that it takes a lot, lot longer for the render to start, then at the end, it takes a long time between thr render ending and being able to use Max. It may be the project I'm working on but when I hit the max 'render' button, there is no lag at either end of the render process.
I just thought I would flag this up in case anyone else was having the same issue?

Hello !
Sorry for delay...
In certain scenes solidrocks parses all the materials and lights to adjust individual parameters. If your scene have quite a lot materials it can take very long times to process. What you can do is :
Into SR options panel, optimisation section, you can check off "auto glossies subdivs" and maybe auto shadows subdivs if you have a lot of lights
if into the xpert panel you've activated clay mode it can take ages to replace all shaders by a grey one.
Would you please have a try and tell me if it's better ?

Hi
It's my turn to apologise for being slow in replying.
I wanted to run a few tests before i got back to you.
I found that it wasn't SR. It was a 3rd party script called Proxy Textures that kept launching itself in the background loading and unloading the full sized material files. This caused the long wait before and after the render - developer is working on a fix.
So we're all good.
